After many years of working for large clothing and footwear brands in Australia and Europe, Glenn found his passion was in producing apparel with an experience, the only way to appreciate 'Smellies Clothing' is to genuinely experience it! We set out initially to produce clothing that was interactive and to bring back some 80's favourites.... The Scratch N' Smell rangeHow it works - Simply scratch the print and then smell the scent. Scratch N’ Sniff became a phenomenon in the early and mid 1980’s with greeting cards and stickers. We use the latest scent application technology for clothing, we have discovered a NEW engineered microcapsule technology that holds the scent longer. Scent has the power to evoke emotions, evoke long lost memories and change people’s moods. It has been shown in studies, that scent effects 75% of the emotions we experience everyday. Let us now experience these emotions from our clothing and have some fun with it! We have launched with a children’s range of T-shirts - we surveyed the most popular fruits and other scents that appeal to kids and developed these scents with our engineers. It has been so rewarding for us just to watch the reactions on the kids’ faces when they see the fruit print and then smell the fruity scent, a real sense of excitement, fun and even learning is taking place. Our essence has passed ASTM F.963 -96a - a non-toxic and safety stamp. The Colourchange range
How is works - The t-shirt will change colour by touch and body heat due to changes in temperature. The heat from the body, hand or the environment makes the t-shirt change colour from one colour to another. Once cooled, the T-shirt changes back to the original colour. The T-shirt will change colour when it reaches over 29 degrees. The secret to Colourchange T- shirts and products like them is thermo chromism, the ability of a substance to change colour due to a change in temperature. The shirts are manufactured with two dyes: one regular dye that provides the constant “true” colour of the fabric, and a thermo chromic dye enclosed in microcapsules bound to the fabric’s fibers. Leuco dyes are used which are organic, safe and hygenic. Hyper colour t-shirts were extremely popular in the late 80’s/early 90’s – did you have one? Colourchange T-shirts are back, for the kids of noughties! Our Colourchange T-shirt range is also very safe and effective, the processes have been certified by an independant body. If we had to say one or the other, our tees are on the smaller side, so our advice would be: buy the next size up if your child is between sizes or you are unsure between two sizes. What are the washing instructions? Cold wash only. Do not iron print and do not bleach. The washing instructions are also on the swing tag and on tag inside the t-shirt How long does the scent last? Scratch and smell is created through the process of micro encapsulation. The desired smell is surrounded by micro-capsules that break upon scratching. Because of the micro-encapsulation, the aroma can be preserved for long periods of time. The scent can become a little weaker with regular washing.
